I met Kim and Steve at the Hartford Bridal Show in January. We met at my studio the following week at my photography studio to talk more about their wedding. Steve proposed on Block Island, and they had dreams of having their engagement photos done there as well. I remember Kim saying with a hopeful-but-unsure face, “We’d love to do the engagement photos at Block Island. Is that something you would be interested in?” I tried to control my excitement, but I think my voice went up an octave and I almost jumped out of my seat. Of course I said yes, and the trip was amazing.
I took my husband, Zach, with me to be my assistant and to make a work trip into a bit of a romantic getaway.
Our evening photo session was at North Light House, and the sunset was incredible.
We then got up in the morning and went to the Spring House, which sits on a hill overlooking the ocean. The four of us got together that night and drank two bottles of wine on the Darius Inn balcony. We will certainly be staying there the next time we go to Block Island. Halfway through the evening the power went out and we still sat and enjoyed the wine while we watched a lightning storm in the distance.
Getting to know my clients is one of the things I love about photographing weddings.
