I’ve had more newborn sessions in the last few months than normal, and I love seeing those cute faces!
I’m the second child of four in my family, and I remember my mom bringing my younger sister home. The first time I met my little sister, Janelle, was at my Papa and Grandma’s house on Easter, the day my mom was released from the hospital. I remember seeing her in the car seat and thinking that my mom lied to me. I was no longer her baby girl like she told me. So I told my mom that she needed to take Janelle back — surprise…it didn’t happen.
I tell that story because sometimes older siblings can feel left out. Their world has just been rocked by this little human who needs mom’s attention all the time. When I have older siblings come to sessions, I typically start with sibling photos. Then when the baby needs a feeding or snuggles, I focus on the older child and do a few of him or her alone.
This session was a bit different because the subject was my new nephew, Grant — my older sister Ashley’s second child.
Grace (the proud older sister) wasn’t totally into the photos of just her and Grant, but when it was just her, she lit up!
