Molly's Spotlight | A Beginner's Boudoir

Hello, my name is Molly! This year was filled with many milestones, including my wedding and a birthday! I wanted to do something new and for myself. I have always wanted to do a boudoir shoot but was always nervous. What would I do with it? Will I be happy with how it turned out?  There are very few times in our lives when we actually invest in something strictly for ourselves. I’ve never been one to go all out in self-care, so this was a really amazing and impactful indulgence for me! 

After I researched a photographer by google searches and Instagram, I found Amber Jones Photography. During our conversations, I even found out she knew my wedding photographer! After looking over the different packages Amber offers, I made my decision to book my shoot. I especially loved that hair and makeup were included and that it was a full day in the studio. I also really liked the options to customize the package into something more personalized! What was very important in my decision was that Amber never made me feel “rushed.” I was booked!

I really wanted to do this for myself. This was the first thing I’ve done for myself in a long time, and it felt overdue. My upcoming wedding was for myself, but much of it was for our friends and family as a celebration. This time, I was planning something specifically for myself! 

I wanted photos that looked timeless. I wanted to look sexy but not overexposed. I am definitely not a “naked” person! I’m more of a tomboy and love my casual style. I rarely wear a lot of makeup and probably couldn’t style my hair to save my life! Amber was great and read my vibe right off the bat. I felt totally comfortable the whole time!

I had a classic, clean, and very natural look for my makeup that “played up” my eyes. I always get nervous with my hair and makeup. I fear that I won’t look like me. However, when it was time for the reveal, I was SO happy! I didn’t look unfamiliar at all. This was a beautiful look! In my dream world, I would totally have my hair and makeup done daily like that! Afterward, all dolled up, I went to work!
